A new extended Kalman filter (EKF)-based algorithm to assimilate lake water surface temperature (LWST) observations into the lake model/parameterisation scheme Freshwater Lake (FLake) has been developed. The data assimilation algorithm has been implemented into the stand-alone offline version of FLake.
